Another Teacher Gift

I used this great subway art to make a gift for one of the teachers this year. I framed it in a black frame with flat sides.
I then used my Silhouette to create and cut the wording for the teachers name and the word "rules". Kind of a cute play on words, isn't it??  :-)

I created a card and envelope to go with it.  Gotta love the edge punch by EK Success that I used on the graph paper, looks like the paper was ripped right out of a notebook!  I double punched the yellow paper o create a nice scalloped embellishment.

The back side of the envelope closes with ribbon.  The apple on the card is popped for dimension.

I hope she'll enjoy this new decoration for her classroom!

Cupcakes with Extra Frosting!

Mmmm.... yummy cupcakes!  Some days, it's all about the frosting!  Other days you really want the cake.  No matter what, cupcakes are always sure to put a smile on your face!
This one is no exception!  I created the wrapper by accordion folding the pink patterned paper. Can't tell by the straight-on angle of this photo, but the cupcake pops off the card.
Inside is a sweet message done in happy bright colors.

So..... how about for you?  Is it all about the frosting or the cake?  :-)

Picture Perfect?

Often my cards are very happy and cheery.  But sometimes, life is not quite what we expected.  How you deal with those moments can build character and strength.  As hard as it may be, try not to despair, but rather garner all your determination, and always head in the direction of your dreams!
The design for this card came to me while thinking about friends and family that are dealing with some tough times.  It may seem simplistic, but sometimes a beautiful card and note from a friend can really help someone find the strength they need.  Never underestimate the power of a card.

The flower under the camera is made from ribbon that I bunched and adhered.  I like that the paper looks like rainbows.  They come out after the storm has passed. A little subliminal message there, huh?

Hope your day is filled with positive moments!

Tissue Box Cover

Achoo!  It's allergy season.  Lucky for me I don't really suffer from allergies. Although I do usually get a cold during allergy season.  But watching my husband and my one son that deal with allergies... I'll take the head cold instead!
To pretty things up in the house during this season, I made this tissue box cover.  A pretty simple project.  You're basically just making 2 boxes, a tall one for the bottom and a short one for the lid.
I used an edge punch to give the lid a tiny bit of elegance and detail.  With a house full of guys, I kept it not too girly!  Just some simple ribbon and a little embellished flower to trim it.

I used a Spellbinders die to cut the hole for the top.  The Labels Four set seemed to go well with the design of the patterned paper.
I added some support by making a base from recycled corrugated cardboard.  I love it when I can recycle items and make them useful again.

Vintage Frogs?

OK, no.... the frog is not vintage!  LOL  I created 2 cards yesterday that started with the same inspiration, but went in different directions!  I started with this weeks sketch at MojoMonday.

Then I pulled some additional inspiration from some new digital kits.
The added inspiration for this vintage lady's silhouette card came from the kit add-on My History - Extras and the papers came from the kit My History both by WM Squared Designs.

Here are some other views of this card

Then I created another card from the same sketch
When I saw the contents of the 2011 iNSD Grab Bag by WM Squared Designs and Haynay Designs, I couldn't resist putting a crown on this cute little frog!

Here is a look at the inside of the card
And one last view before I go
I hope you've enjoyed seeing how different results can come from the same starting point. When you create, just have fun and follow your heart!

Wedding Bells Will Be Ringing!

If you are looking for the ScrapMatters {i}NSD blog train post..... you can find that here.

It is the season for weddings!  I've been busy making some cards and projects for weddings.  I've got a few more to share with you today!
This is a hybrid card using elements from the ScrapMatters Design Team Collaborative kit Moments that Matter.  I also used lots of blingy glitter to coat the letters in the word "bride". I also sprinkles glitter on areas of the bridal bouquet.   I wish you could see just how sparkly this card really is!

As you can see, my azaleas are in bloom right now. Makes a great background for taking photos!

This card uses papers from Iced Latte by Kellie Mize.

The umbrella element on this card if from the Spring Flowers Grab Bag by Wimpychompers.

The papers on this hybrid card are from Quirky Twerps Sugar Blossom kit. The sentiment is a digital stamp from Arty Pants.
Papers and elements on this one are from Bride to be by Mye De Leon.

I hope this has giving you some inspiration!
Happy scrapping!

Got Cake?

I've been working on wedding cards quite a bit recently. I hope you're not tiring of seeing them.  I've been trying to make many different designs, so hopefully the variety will pique your interest.

I made this for a certain someone that is getting married soon. My inspiration came from the gift that I made for the couple. It has a heart shape in it.  As well as this weeks Shabby Tea Room post.

The challenge this week is to use the above photo for color inspiration and use blue, white (or cream) and a neutral. The blues that I used are in line with the wedding colors for this bride. I've got some neutral colors in the small roses on the front and inside of the card.

I found the white flowers in the wedding aisle of the craft store and thought that they would look great on a wedding card.

The real surprise to this card is what is inside................

A wedding cake!  I found the cutting files for this yummy cake here.  What an extremely talented artist. I am in awe of Carol's creative mind!

With a little bit of engineering, I was able to work out my design in Photoshop to include the decor as well as allow for the cake to be cut correctly.

I used a few digi goodies from the Digichick to create this card.  I recolored the blossoms on one of the Spring Ballet Accent Clusters by Laitha's Designs.  I wanted the colors to match the brides.

I used flowers from the Vanilla Noir kit by Quirky Twerp to decorate the top of the cake. I also used paper from that pack for the inner liner and outside of the card.  The background paper for the inside of the card is from Iced Latte Paper Pack by Kellie Mize.

I hope that the couple finds this card as yummy as I do!

There will be more wedding and graduation stuff coming up soon. I'm also taking part in a HUGE iNSD blog hop on May 7 with a whole bunch of the ScrapMatters team. There will be all kinds of freebies along the way. Including something from yours truly!  So be sure to come back for that.
