In Stitches: Card Caravan

For the current Card Caravan at the Hybrid Chick, our theme is stitching.  It can be either real or faux stitching.  I chose to do some hand stitching around the edge of my card.

I used the digital kit Folk Art Love Paper Pack by Paper Garden Projects to create the card.  The sunflower is an element from the digital kit Childhood Magic by Etc. by Danyale. Do add some depth to the sunflower, I printed and cut 2 copies of it. I curled the petals and carefully added some ink. I then layered then, alternating the petals.

For even more detail on the center of the flower, I used Glossy Accents adhesive to add some black seed beads. With the May Arts Ribbon velvet lace, the bumpy shiny flower center, and the hand stitching, this is a very tactile dimensional card.

The papers and borders were cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

Quick Cards

Ever want to quickly created a home made card for some one's birthday? Here is a kit that is perfect for this!

Paper Garden Projects has been making some amazing kits that are geared toward the hybrid artist. They even include cutting files!!!  This made it super easy for me to design my card in my Silhouette Studio software and simply print and cut everything.  Add a bit of glue to assemble the card and ta-da! You've got a pretty home made card ready for giving!!

I simply popped up the turtle. He's just so cute!!

I have the banner a some dimension by placing one small pop dot in the middle.

Disney Shadow Box

There are a few shadow boxes in our house. Mainly I've made them from old, antique wooden boxes.  But this one is made of..... paper. Yep the whole thing is paper.  It's amazingly sturdy!

My husband has been anxious to take another Disney trip.  It's been 2 years since our last trip to Disney. I think we'll have to plan another WDW trip soon.  But for now, I'm hopefully that this Father's Day gift will keep him Disney satisfied!  I tucked in a few photos from different trips we have taken.

The digital kit that I used for the papers and elements is a brand new release by WM Squared Designs called Feel the Magic.  It is available at Scrap Orchard. And since it is a new release, it's on sale this weekend!

Check out Wendy's (WM Squared) blog too. She is celebrating her birthday with lots of freebies, games and prizes!!

Here are a few close ups of the box.

There is a beautiful May Arts Ribbon attached so that he can hang this, or have it stand on a shelf.

The box itself was made from a set of Silhouette shapes by Lori Whitlock. I cut them on my Cameo using Red River 12x12 White Linen textured cardstock. It's a super weight that is perfect for electronic cutter and takes the ink from my inkjet printer so nicely!

Well, now I'm wanting to go on a Disney trip!

Other Ingredients:
Ink: Momento, Colorbox, Copic
Glitter: Ranger Stickles, GlobeCraft
Adhesive: Xyron, Beacon Arts, GlueArts
Brads: Queen and Co.
Buttons: EK Success
Twine: DMC

Truck Load of Wishes

Got a quick post to share with you today. I made this cute card for a boy's birthday.  I used a set of papers released today by Kelleigh Ratzlaff called Little Mister Solids.

Aren't they yummy???  Oh but wait.... Kelleigh created a coordinating pack of patterned papers too!

Oh yeah - with all the "boys" in my life, I'll be using these papers quite a bit!

The days when my boys were into construction trucks doesn't seem that long ago!  I really don't think boys/men outgrow toys..... their toys just get more expensive!!  LOL

Clean & Simple Hello Card

Today starts a new Card Caravan Challenge at The Hybrid Chick. Our challenge this time is to create a Clean and Simple Card. I created this as inspiration for the challenge.

I used the new designer collab kit Summer Morning by the designers at The DigiChick. It's packed with vibrant colors and patterns!

I designed the card in the Silhouette Studio software and print and cut it on my Cameo. To create the sentiment, I welded the font in Silhouette Studio, filled it with the digital paper, and then set it to not cut.  This way I could have it print directly on the yellow accent paper.

The telephone receivers are a shape from the Silhouette store that I replicated and filled with different digital papers. I inked the edges after they were cut out.

The "cords" were sketched on to the paper using a Bic pen, a Chomas Creations pen holder and the Silhouette Cameo.

I hope you've enjoyed this little "hello".  Check out the Card Caravan, and join in on the fun!

Print & Cut: Fathers Day

I love having "staples" in my digi stash!  I used a few for this card.  I designed this card in my Silhouette software and used the print & cut feature (love it! bRead on for a tutorial on this feature).  Once I had the shapes all laid out the way I wanted them, I simply dragged in the digi papers to fill the various items.

I used P365: Solids (Volume 2) and Back to Basics Paper by Wishing Well Creations. 2 great "go to" packs of paper.

I used some silver ink to bling up the tools. A mix of brown and orange inks helped to make the tool bench look worn.  Brads finished off the pegboard for "hanging" the tools.

Want to see more about how to use the Print and cut feature of the Silhouette to create a card like this? I've got a tutorial up at Ideas For Scrapbookers today. Stop by to see how easy it is!

New Driver and Thank You!

My oldest son is now a licensed driver!  So very proud of him!!!  Driving did not come easy for him.  But he worked hard at it and took his time.  I'm happy to say that he is a cautious driver!

He had some help from a good friend of ours who just happens to own a driving school!  He just really went above and beyond to help my son get comfortable with driving, and help him take and pass his test.  I made this card as a special thank you.

It's a hybrid creation made using digi papers and my Silhouette Cameo.  I was really happy with how it came out.  I hope he likes it too!
