Punched Out Card

I've got a cute little card to share with you today.

I created this using a digital scrapping template from the new release Punched Out v1 by WM Squared Designs.  I designed the card in Silhouette Studio Software DE.  Pop dots helped to give the card lots of dimension.

The digital papers are from a kit also by WM Squared Designs called These Moments.  The word art is something I designed. Then I added a bit of twine for a finishing touch.

Hawaii Smash Book/Mini Album

Here is a look at another type of Smash style mini album that I created.  This one was made using a UniKeep binder. These are great for creating mini albums, photo books, and journals.  They help protect your photos and creations. They are sturdy and can stand up to traveling too. So they make great projects to take with you on vacation.

This particular UniKeep binder came with photo sleeve inserts. This will make it easy to create a mini album. You can insert photos and journal cards in the sleeves and presto, you've got a quick personalized album!

Here are a few more views:

Tip: To create an insert long enough to cover the front, back and spine of the binder, print 2 papers with the background digital paper pattern and join them in the center with a strip of paper the width of the spine.

Supply List:
Storage: UniKeep "Mini PhotoKeep Binder with 50 3x5" Photo Pages"; Adhesive: Beacon Adhesives"Zip Dry," GlueArts "Glue Glider Pro+: PermaTac"; Paper: Red River "River Linen: 12x12"; Digital Kits: "Paradise Found" by Mari Koegelenberg; Die-Cuts: Silhouette America "Cameo Machine," Cut Files: Hibiscus Grunge (1825), Hawaii Nickname (26117)Hula Girl (10177), Ornate Lace Doily (26290)Phrase Hawaii (10211), Tiki (10202); Embellishments: KaiserCraft "Pearls: Teal"; Paint: Ranger "Stickles: Cinnamon, Turquoise, Yellow"

Hybrid Digital/Cardstock Paper Piecing

I had so much fun making this scrapbook page. It's always nice to have a photo that gives you so much inspiration, you can "see" the page in your mind. I quickly sketched it out on paper hoping I could create it as closely to what I envisioned. It came out pretty good!

I used the digital ki8t Aloha Spirit by Stelljane Designs to paper piece the flip flops.  I've been turning to this kit over and over again as I start to work on scrapping our Hawaii trip. It's a great kit for any tropical or beach themed projects.

The rest of the elements are paper pieced from cardstock. I cut all the elements on my Silhouette Cameo.  I even laid out the page in the Silhouette Design Edition software to make sure everything was sized correctly.

The clothesline is a bit of jute twine and the "clothespins" are just small strips of cardstock.

This was created as a sample for the 8/19/2012 Card Caravan at the Hybrid Chick. Check it out!

I've also got a full supply list posted on the Scrap n' Art blog.

Big Photo Template

Wow has it been a long time since I had a template to share with you. I created one that I'm sure you'll find plenty of use for.

While working on pages from a recent trip that my family took, I wanted to make a page about the room that we stayed in.  It had an amazing view.  Not that we spent a lot of time in the room, but it certainly was nice to enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean at the beginning and end of our fun filled days. The view from the room was so spectacular in all directions, that I created a panoramic photo from a series of 4 photos. I wanted to include that on the page. That was one of the driving forces behind this template design.

I made the big photo spot at the top. But since I like to include multiple photos on a page, I also included room for 3 more photos below. I also wanted to include some design elements found at the resort. We were staying at Aulani, in Ko 'Olina Hawaii. Plants and flowers surround you. Designs at the resort have both linear and flowing lines. So I used some curves as well as sharp angles in my design and of course included room for flowers and foliage.

I used a combination of digital kits and elements from different designers to create this page. For a list of credits click here.

If you would like a copy of this template that I created in Photoshop, click either of the links below. I have shared the template as both a .psd and .tiff file.

Letterboxing

Have you ever gone letterboxing?  Ever even heard of it? It's the predecessor to geo-caching. It started a long time ago and doesn't require technology. Well, it does now. Let me explain. Letterboxing is a fun activity that combines mystery and puzzle solving with hiking and enjoying the outdoors.  You go online (there's the technology) and gain clues to find letterboxes in your area (or where you are traveling to). And then you set out to find them.  Here are some great sites to find out more about letterboxing, gather clues to letterboxes and get started on this fun hobby yourself: Atlas Quest, Letterboxing North America.

Inside the box you will find a stamp. Not a postage stamp, a rubber stamp.  One that you can make an imprint from. Typically they are hand carved.  You collect the image of the stamp in your logbook. In return, you leave a stamped image of your stamp in the log book of the host letterbox as well as your trail name and where you are from. It's pretty neat to see all the places that people have come from and discovered the same box. Then you repack the box and hide it for the next letterboxer. The only thing you take with you is the stamped image and the fun that you had in solving the clues to find the box.

This scrapbook page that I created has photos from one of our letterboxing treks. I love this activity as it gets us outside enjoying the fresh air, exercising and thinking through the clues. A great thing to do on a summer day.

Summer Card and a Freebie

A new Card Caravan starts today at The Hybrid Chick. The theme this time is "Summer".  Here's a look at the card I created.

I used the digital kit "The Little Things" as well as "The Little Things Extra Papers" by Bella Gypsy. and "Morning Coffee" by Etc. by Danyale to piece together the beach scenery on my card.

I created the word art, and I'm sharing that here as a little freebie for all of you!  Simply click here to download it.

Enjoy!

New releases... New cards

WM Squared Designs has a few new releases this week. Which means that I got to play with some goodies!!  I made up 2 new cards to share with you.

When I saw the frame in her Take Note kit (released this week in her shop at Scrap Orchard), the idea for this card juts burst into my mind.  I also used the coordinating alpha to the kit.

The other new stuff that Wendy released is parts of the Mix-A-Kit at ScrapMatters, where she is guesting for their birthday reunion.  Her items are called "Summer Breeze".   That name and the cute kite were all the inspiration I needed to design this summery card.

Trading Cards Mini

Got a child that is into sports?  Maybe more than one child, or more than one sport??  One of my sons is an athlete.  He has played football, soccer, football, baseball, football, basketball, and did I mention football?  LOL

Over the years he has gotten his photo taken for each team, season and sport.  The photo packages usually come with those adorable trading card versions.  After you give the extras out to all the relatives and friends, what do you do with the ones you've kept?

I created a mini to store them in and put on display.  I used digital kits, elements to create the design. I then printed them, cut them out and created a wrap to go inside a UniKeep "Mini Wallet Case Binder" (it's the little one in the set at the link).

The digital kits that I used are: "Grid Iron Grit" by Quirky Twerp, "Play the Game" by Chelle's Creations, "Snippettes: Sports Football, and Sports: Football" by Sahlin Studio.

I used my Silhouette Cameo software to design the layout and then print and cut the various elements.

Here's a look at the inside. The trading cards fir in the insert pockets perfectly!

Now I've got all of his trading cards, all the way up to high school, in one place.
