Drop Ornament

Today starts a new Card Caravan at The Hybrid Chick. The theme is "snowflakes". Perfect for winter.  I created this drop ornament as inspiration.

The papers and elements that I used are from the digital kit A Country Christmas by Kimeric Kreations.  I traced one of the snowflakes from the kit in my Cameo software and cut it out. I coated it with Antique Gold embossing powder by Ranger and heat embossed it.  I added that as an accent under the ribbon.

The ornament was made using the Drop Ornament Cutting File by Kelleigh Ratzlaff.  I added one of the digital kit elements as a medallion at the bottom of the ornament.  I just used a needle and thread to attach it. On the back side of the medallion, I used more Antique Gold embossing powder. It makes a nice blingy, but vintage look.

So now you're wondering, this is inspiration for a Card Caravan? But it's not a card??  That's right. You can enter any paper craft into the Card Caravan. It doesn't have to be a card!  As long as you follow the theme, and you created it from paper - you can enter it!  Stop by, be inspired!  We'd love to see what you create!

Peace

Arty Pants Digital Stamps just released these gorgeous Dove stamps. When I saw them, I knew exactly what I wanted to create. A card that extends peace.

I used a digital kit called Mistletoe by Sweet Digi Scraps for the paper in the hybrid card.  The word "Peace" is from another Arty Pants Digital Stamp set called Christmas Sentiments Digital Stamps.

Often when we think of peace, we think of tranquility, softness.  But peace is strong. I wanted to show that on this card. I brought the "Peace on Earth" digital stamp into my Silhouette software.  I traced the word "peace" and cut it using some of the digital paper as the background.  I then ran the letters through my Xyron X upside down to coat the face of them with adhesive. I covered them with a copper embossing powder and applied heat to get the look of metal.

I also brought the dove digital stamp into the Silhouette software. I filled it with a paper from the Mistletoe kit.  I them traced it with an offset and print and cut it.  I added some Holly Stickles to the leaves for a bit of bling.

I added a bit of primitive stitching as a reminder that peace may be as old as time, but it is held together and kept alive by the links that our hearts make.  With each link to another heart, it grows stronger.

In the wake of the tragic events last week in Newtown, Connecticut, I keep searching and hoping for Peace.  I realized that Peace and Hope are both things that we possess in our hearts. The way to make them grow in this world is to share them.  So I am sharing my hope with all of you that we will find peace, and that together Hope and Peace will overcome evil.

Please pass along the peace that it is in your heart.

With Peace,

Holiday Trees

If you've been reading my posts lately, you know that I've made quite a few different designs of holiday cards this year.  I wanted to make a card that had a humble Christmas tree on the front.  Even with that idea in mind, I still made 3 different designs!!

This first one, I used a pine branch punch to create the greenery for the tree.  The embossing was done using  a folder with my Cuttlebug.

The stars were clear (I couldn't find gold ones) that I recolored using a Copic Marker.  The Ribbon is from May Arts.

This one was made using snowflake shapes that I cut on my Cameo. I cut them in different colors of green cardstock and layered them.

The ornaments are red rhinestones.

The card has some nice texture to it and a bit of dimension.

And this one was made using a Martha Stewart snowflake punch to create the greenery.  I really like how each of them turned out!

Snow Happy Holiday!

More snowflake holiday cards to share with you today.   I ran the card front through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss dot embossing folder to create a "snowy" background.  I cut some curvy tag shapes from blue and whit card stock. layered them and stamped my sentiment.

I cut some snowflake shapes with the Cameo from the same blue and white cardstock.  I used some Ranger Ink embossing tinsel (Bridal) to bling up some of the layers.

The best part about paper snowflakes?  They don't get tracked through the house like real ones, making a mess of everything!  LOL

Happy Holidays!

Christmas Window

There is something special about the house when it is all decorated for the holidays.  Everything looks a little better, a bit fuller, more complete.  I enjoyed creating this card just like I was decorating my home!

I created little curtains for the window and then set about making flowers and foliage for the window box.

I used several punches to create the flower display.  I manipulated the blossoms and layered them to get the look I wanted.  Stickles gave the flower centers a bit of bling!

Of course there had to be snow outside at this time of year. So I embossed the background paper to create the look of "snow".

I hope this time of preparing for the holidays is finding you well and happy!

Gingerbread Wishes

I hope you're not getting tired of seeing holiday cards. I've made quite a few different styles this year.  This card was so much fun to create.

I used plain cardstock.  For the "snow" I added Flower Soft (Polar White) and some super fine glitter.

I love the dimension and texture that it adds to the card.  Makes ne feel the chill of a winter snowfall!!

This card is perfect for sending warm wishes from our house to yours!

Merry & Bright Snowflakes

Here is a set of cards that I made using cut files from the Silhouette store and the really awesome Frosted (Snow) Flakes Cutting Files by Paper Garden Projects. I love these files. They are separated so you can layer and mix up the snowflakes.

For my cards, I decided to go with just plain card stock.  Here is a close up of the snowflake on the first card.  I layered it in various colors of the American Crafts Winter Card Stock.  A bit of Stickles adds a little bling!

For this card, I used the same snowflake and design.  I used lighter colors from the AC Winter Cardstock pack.

This snowflake got a glittery button center.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

Santa is really going to be bringing gifts!!  I created this cute gift bag to look just like the jolly old elf!

Over at The Hybrid Chick we decide to try something new. We all used the same template and created to our hearts content.  The template that we used is The Basic Bag Template by Girl Boy Girl Designs.  You should see all the amazing creations that each started out from this template.  You can check them all out here.

I used digital papers to create this gift bag.  They are from the Christmas Retrospect kit by Quirky Twerp.  I cut the bag and the Santa pieces using my Cameo.  The beard, hat trim, and mustache were dry embossed using a Tim Holtz embossing folder by Sizzix.  I then applied some fine glitter and spritzed them with decoupage gloss sealer.

To give him those nice rosy cheeks, I used some chalks. The belt buckle got it's shine from some Ranger Ink Ancient Gold embossing powder.

Now to fill this sweety with some special gifts!!
