Happy Easter

A quick hybrid card and a wish for a very blessed Easter for you!

This card is made using Easter Retrospect by Quirky Twerp. The card base is one of the papers re-sized to 5x5. Then I cut three copies of the flower (also from the kit) and a chick.  I layered each of them using glue dots between the layers to create depth.

I hope that you and your family are enjoying a blessed Easter!

Spring Wellies

The Hybrid Chick has a new Card Caravan challenge going. This time the theme is to make a shaped card.  With all the late season now and ice we've been having lately, my thoughts keep turning to Spring and warmer temps. So I thought a cute wellie would make a great card for this challenge.

This cute boot makes think of splashing my way through a newly planted garden of Spring bulbs.  I can't wait! I used the digital kit Spring Promise by Stella Jane. Perfect name for the way I'm looking forward to Spring, as a promise, of changes and new adventures to come!

I inked up the boot to look like it has spent a day working in the garden and splashing in the puddles of a light Spring rain.  I couldn't resist adding a bit of bling with Stickles arounf the flower cut outs.

If you're a hybrid or paper crafter, stop by the challenge and join in the fun!

Never a Dull Moment

Raising boys takes a lot of energy!  But the rewards are amazing!!  Being a parent is the best job ever!!!

This scrapbook page that I made uses an older, favorite photo of mine. It was taken with a film camera (yep, hop in the way-back-machine!)  I scanned it in and gave it some pop using a Photoshop action from the set Make it Yours by Charm Box Studios. The action that I used is the Make it Sing action.

This page came together in my head as soon as I laid eyes on the new stamp For Boys by Arty Pants Digital Stamps.  This stamp is amazing. It comes with a .jpg, .png and a layered photoshop file!!  I love the layered file. It allowed me to clip papers from the digital kit to the stamp to custom color it.  That way it coordinates perfectly with my layout!!  If you've got girls, don't fret, there's a stamp For Girls as well!

The kit I used is also a new release called Every Moment Matters by Kimeric Kreations. You've got to take a closer look at this kit. The colors will grab you, but the textures and patterns will make you fall in love!

Tile Coasters

Looking for a quick, easy, but personalized project that you can do as a gift? Or maybe to help spruce up your own home?  Try making some tile coasters using your digital or traditional paper crafting supplies.

Today I am going to share a tutorial for making tile coasters. Now, I made these back in the Fall to give as a Christmas gift. So I'm using some holiday motifs on mine. You can use anything that you like. You could make a set for everyday use or a set for various holidays, or maybe themed for using when celebrating a birthday.

You can pick up the tiles at any home improvement store. You might even have some lying around from a leftover home project. Stock up on a few and you can make several sets at once. The only hard part will be picking out which ones to give and which ones to keep!

Supplies you will need:
Decoupage adhesive
Decoupage sealer (optional)
Scrapbook paper (digital or traditional)
4"x4" Square Ceramic or Stone Tiles
Bristle paint brush
** If using digital scrapbook kit you'll also need:
Photo editing software
Inkjet paper

I used Beacon Adhesive Fast Finish Decoupage and Decoupage Glass Sealer for this. You could also use Mod Podge or your favorite brand of decoupage medium.

1. Clean square tiles using a damp cloth. Allow to dry completely.
2. Select elements or paper to use.  If using digital scrapbook kit, resize them to fit on tile, if necessary, in photo editing software. Print.
3. Cut out the elements, or trim the paper to fit on the tile. Cut the papers slightly smaller than the tile.

4. Using slightly damp bristle brush, apply a coat of decoupage medium to tile.

5. While decoupage medium is still wet, adhere cut out element/paper to tile. Smooth over surface to remove any bubbles.
6. Apply thin coat of decoupage medium over top of element/paper on tile using bristle brush. Allow to dry.

7. Apply additional 2-3 coats of decoupage medium to tile and allow to dry thoroughly between coats.
8. Protect the work surface with a craft mat or waxed paper. Spray decoupaged tile with gloss sealer to seal. Hold bottle about 6 inches from tile and spray top coat. Allow to dry. (Optional)
9. Cut felt to fit the bottom of the tile. And adhere.

10. Wrap them up in a pretty bow for gift giving.

Here are the supplies that I used:
Digital Kit: "Penguin Pals Digital Kit Bundle" by Paper Garden Projects
Paper: Epson Premium Presentation Matte
Adhesive: Beacon Adhesives 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue, Decoupage Gloss Sealer, Fast Finish Decoupage Glue

The tiles were left over from a home improvement project that we did. If you have some, this is a great way to "upcycle" them.

Bath Bubbles

"Calgon take me away!"  Remember those commercials? Am I dating myself if I remember those commercials??  :-)  A soothing bubble bath just oozes relaxation. So when I was asked to work with the Bubble Bath digital goodies by Kate Hadfield, my mind went to calming thoughts of lingering lazily in a warm bath.

Cute stuff isn't it?  Here's how I created the sparkly bubbles for my card.  I opened the elements that I wanted to use (tub, bubbles, duck, towel) in my Silhouette software. I resized them to fit my card. Then I print and cut them.  You can also cut them by hand.

On the bubbles, I applied a bit of Glossy Accents mixed with some fine blue glitter. The Glossy Accents gave it a wet look, while the glitter added that bubble shine.  Once it was all dried, I layered the pieces on my card front.

Birthdays are a good time to remind friends to unwind and enjoy life. So I thought this made a splashy cute birthday card.

Spring Bouquet Box

Spring is getting closer!  Even though winter storms are still in the area. Every once in a while we get some sunshine and warmer breezes!  I'm so ready for Spring!!  I was so excited to work with Paper Garden Projects new release Chalk It Up to Spring.

This kit is just filled with sunshine and warmth!!  As a new release at The DigiChick, it's on sale this weekend!  So be sure to check it out.

I used the papers from the kit to create the box, label, butterflies, flowers and leaves.  The box is cut file available in the Silhouette online store. This will make an awesome box to gift up some Easter wishes!!  The label was cut and embossed using Spellbinders Floral Ovals and Classic Ovals dies.

The large butterfly in the front was cut and embossed using Spellbinders Butterfly Corner die and the large butterfly on the lid uses Spellbinders Butterflies to cut, emboss and paper piece it (I think this die may be retired now).  The small butterfly is punched using a Martha Stewart punch.

I created a cut file that I used to make the flowers.  I cut several layers of petals in varying sizes. I inked the edges and then manipulated the petals to get the look that I wanted.

I let one rose be open while the other is still young and closed a bit. I added some homemade stamens to the center. The lace is Jolee's Boutique and the trim on the lid is May Arts Ribbon.

Ahh, that looks like Spring!  I'm feeling warmer already!!

Birthday Petal Box

A new Card Caravan has started up over at The Hybrid Chick. The theme this time is "Fur or Feather".  This little birdie was the perfect embellishment for the theme!!

I made this sweet box using the Birthday Buddies Hybrid Card Crafting Kit by Paper Garden Projects. This kit is filled with great birthday elements. There's even elements for those times when you miss a birthday and need a sweet way to send late greetings!!

The box was created using the Petal Box Cutting Files by Kelleigh Ratzlaff.  I used the print and cut feature on my Silhouette Cameo for this. I lined up the different digital papers with the box shape.  For the bird and tag, I brought the .png images into the Silhouette software, traced them then print and cut them.

To make the bird able to stand on the package, I created a mirrored image of it before cutting. I then glued the top of it together and placed a small piece of paper at the bottom to create a base.
